  • Communicate consumable insights, share insights with peers, and partners, and document those insights in a repository so that they are accessible

Senior UX / Interaction Designer – GREENWAY HEALTH - Sept 2015 – Oct 2019

Four years working in a large EHR (Electronic Healthcare Records) development company creating enterprise applications for medical practice patient records and management. Duties included:

  • User Experience Product Design: Created intuitive and easy-to-use workflows for highly complex Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications with hundreds of interactions per module. Lead Product Designer for a team tasked with designing a completely new cloud-based ‘re-platform’ of the flagship product.

  • Collaboration: Worked alongside Healthcare Providers, Patients, Product Management, Business Analysts, Usability Analysts, Engineers, and other stakeholders to brainstorm, plan for, and understand the needs and goals of the products, for healthcare professionals and patient care. Used AGILE methodology to provide feedback and steering to 6-8 scrum teams (each team containing 4-6 developers) concurrently, responding to technical challenges, time constraints, and incorporating user feedback to find the best possible solutions.

  • Low-Fidelity wireframing: Quickly communicated design ideas with sketches and lo-fi wireframes using tools ranging from whiteboards to industry standard tools like Figma, Balsamiq, and Axure.

  • High-fidelity (pixel-perfect) wireframing: Created wireframes linking up to 100 pages (per component) to demonstrate workflow and/or specific UI interactions in the EHR system.

  • Pattern Library Contributor: Defined and contributed complex product design workflow patterns to the library, promoting proper use of elements to ensure a consistent and intuitive user experience throughout the product.

  • Usability Testing: Participated in and led, as appropriate, focus groups made up of 3-9 medical healthcare providers on a 1-3/x weekly basis. Prepared simple to complex wireframes and product visual designs for these meetings.

  • Discovery:  Researched customer needs along with business requirements to create workflows, wireframes, and design documents so that the EHR would best serve the care providers and patients. Participated in 4-day and 1-day usability labs, interviewing 40-50 medical providers (doctors, staff, and practice IT professionals), to gather information on the needs and use of the EHR.
